OTHER STUFF

All sorts of things for TV and radio. Writing 26 episodes (well writing 21 and editing the other 5) of the Yo! Diary! television series has kept me off the streets for the past couple of years.

Apart from that there’s been various episodes of childrens’ comedy dramas such as Out of Tune (BBC), Mike and Angelo (ITV), older stuff like Ed Stone is Dead (BBC 2) and much younger stuff like The Hoobs (CHANNEL 4) and the mighty Zingalong (CBEEBIES). I’ve also written quite a few things for schools television and if only I could remember what they were then I’d no doubt mention them right now.

I won’t bore you with all the stuff currently “in development” and all the ideas I’ve got for stories and books and TV projects and whatever. We’d be here all day/night delete where not applicable and you’d end up getting into trouble for running up massive internet bills. Unless of course you get unlimited access. Even so I’m not going to drone on and on about what may or may not happen. Life’s too short. But watch this space.

I’ve written and performed quite a bit of stuff for BBC Radio 4 over the years. Grown-up comedy stuff. Stuff like My Booze Hell by Little Johnny Cartilage (see BIOG). Stuff like The Plunger, At Home with the Van De Bergs and The Rambler.

And talking about being in stuff I’ve somehow managed to rack up quite a list of acting credits. Lots of TV and radio appearances. I was in various late night comedy shows in the early 90s when I was still doing stand-up. Apart from that I’ve done loads of little bit parts. You know - 2nd policeman in Rab C Nesbitt - that kind of thing. I’ve also been in various things on childrens’ telly as well as adult dramas like The Young Persons Guide To Being a Rock Star and Micawber but that was a real “blink and you’ll miss me” job. Even I didn’t spot myself on that one! Amazing what a wig and a bit of makeup can do.

Ooh and I’ve been in a film too! Yeah! I played the part of the teacher (just “the teacher” mind you - didn’t have a proper name or anything) in the movie version of The Little Vampire , complete with dubious Scottish accent. When I do author visits to schools and libraries kids generally find that much cooler and more interesting than all that book stuff. Oh well.

So anyway that’s about it I suppose. What else can I tell you about myself? Nah - better stop there I think. Don’t want to start getting too self-indulgent do we? What do you mean it’s too late? You cheeky monkey you!
